Why I Switched from Trello to Notion for Project Management

After three years on Trello, I moved to Notion and never looked back. Here's what works better and what to watch out for.

I was a loyal Trello user for three years. The simplicity of boards, lists, and cards was addictive. But as my freelance business grew, Trello started feeling like a shoebox—great for storing stuff, terrible for finding it. I needed relationships between projects, clients, and deadlines. Notion delivered that.

The biggest game-changer was linked databases. In Trello, each board is an island. In Notion, I can create a client database, a project database, and a task database, then link them together. When I update a project status, it automatically reflects on the client page. No more manual copy-paste.

Another win: custom views. I can see my tasks as a kanban board, a calendar, or a table—all from the same data. Trello forces you into the board view. Notion adapts to how your brain works that day. The only downside is the learning curve. Notion's flexibility can be overwhelming at first. But once you set up your system, it's hard to go back. If you're outgrowing Trello, give Notion a weekend trial. It might just change your workflow.
